NBA All-Star 2012 Blowout Pt.2

I’m back again with more of a preview of the NBA All-Star Weekend down in Orlando this weekend. Yesterday I talked about the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge, and today will be about the multiple events happening on Saturday Night. These events include Shooting Stars, Skills Challenge, Three Point Contest, and the Slam Dunk Contest to finish the night off.

Haier Shooting Stars Challenge

Team Orlando: Current Magics  Jameer Nelson, WNBA All-Star Marie Ferdinand-Harris; and former Magic great Dennis Scott

Team Atlanta: Current Atlanta Hawks star Joe Johnson, WNBA star Lindsey Harding, current NBA Tv analyst Steve Smith,

Team New York: Current guard Landry Fields, Liberty’s Cappie Pondexter, former Knicks perennial shooter, Allan Houston,

Team Texas Houston Rockets’ Chandler ParsonsSophia Young, and 2x NBA champion  Kenny Smith

Team New York looks good here especially when Joe Johnson will not be participating. His replacement should be announced soon.

Taco Bell’s Skills Challenge

*Stephen Curry  Kyrie Irving  Tony Parker  John Wall  Russell Westbrook  and Deron Williams will participate in the Skills Challenge.

*Defending champion Stephen Curry is injured and will not compete. His replacement will be announced soon. I hope Jeremy Lin is the replacement. If not then I see Deron Williams winning.

Footlocker Three Point Shootout

Reigning champion James Jones, Kevin Love, Ryan Anderson, Anthony Morrow, Mario Chalmers, and Kevin Durant will compete.

I’m expecting Durant to win this.

Sprite Slam Dunk Contest

Chase Budinger, Paul George, Jeremy Evans, and Derrick Williams.

The jury is out on this one. My choice is Jeremy Evans.

So there we have it, tomorrow I will reveal my predictions for the main course, the All-Star game.

NBA All-Star 2012 Blowout Pt.1

The NBA All-Star Weekend is almost upon us. It officially begins this Friday starting with the Celebrity All-Star Game on Espn. All-Star Weekend takes place in the beautiful tourist- friendly city of Orlando. As a fan of the game, this is one of those moments you are excited for each year hoping to see if it can top the previous year. This is Blended Entertainment’s 3-day preview of NBA All-Star Weekend.

Basketball legends Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley each took a turn drafting between a select number of rookie and sophomore players in the league.  Their teams will play each other on Friday in the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge. Charles Barkley has the more complete team but I suspect that Team Shaq will pull out the victory.

Shaq’s team includes:

Blake Griffin, LA Clippers
Jeremy Lin, NY Knicks
Ricky Rubio, Minnesota Timberwolves
Markieff Morris, Phoenix Suns
Kemba Walker, Charlotte Bobcats
Landry Fields, NY Knicks
Norris Cole, Miami Heat
Brandon Knight, Detroit Pistons
Tristan Thompson, Cleveland Cavaliers
Greg Monroe, Detroit Pistons

Charles Barkley’s team includes:

Kyrie Irving, Cleveland Cavaliers
DeMarcus Cousins, Sacramento Kings
Derrick Williams, Minnesota Timberwolves
Paul George, Indiana Pacers
MarShon Brooks, NJ Nets
John Wall, Washington Wizards
Tiago Splitter, San Antonio Spurs (out with injury)
Evan Turner, Philadelphia 76ers
Gordon Hayward, Utah Jazz
Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio Spurs
Derrick Favors, Utah Jazz (replacing Splitter)

Thursday I will cover the events including the Three-Point Contest and Slam Dunk Contest that will take place on Saturday. On Friday I will provide my prediction for the All-Star Game itself that will take place on Sunday.

Week In Review

In a week when university started back up for me plus setting up some interviews, I wanted to touch up on a few things good and unfortunate that has happened this week. I use this picture of Kobe and Vanessa Bryant as a way to simulate that despite the smiles, nothing last forever.

The AFC and NFC Championship games are tomorrow. The New England Patriots host the Baltimore Ravens in the first game followed by the San Francisco 49ers hosting the New York Giants.

Etta James R.I.P. The legendary singer passed away from complications of leukemia less than a week from her would be 74th birthday. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Sarah Burke R.I.P. Sarah died from the complications of a skiing accident. My condolences are with her family and friends. She was only 29 years old.

Vanessa Bryant will net 75 million and three mansions as part of the divorce settlement from NBA superstar, Kobe Bryant.

It seems as if no one will last as Seal and Heidi Klum are reported to be divorcing soon after six years of marriage. The couple has three children together. I hope they work things out.

Will 2012 be the Year for Lebron?

All of Blended Entertainment’s posts so far today have been related to either a break-up or an engagement. This next one has to do with the man who calls himself “King James”. Lebron James has done something that his naysayers, or anyone for that matter thought he’d never do. In celebration for  the New Years, and a belated birthday bash hosted by his teammate Dwayne Wade, Lebron proposed to the mother of his two children. There were about 60 close friends and family members at the party including Dwayne Wade’s girlfriend, Gabrielle Union and Miami Heat teammate Chris Bosh. With Lebron focusing on repairing his image since the debacle his team suffered last season, will 2012 be the year he finally wins a championship?  No matter what happens this year in the NBA, he now in a position where he can everlasting union with his Fiance Savannah Brinson. Good luck Lebron and may 2012 be a successful year.

NBA Players and Owners Reach Agreement

We have some good news here to report at Blended Entertainment. As of right now, the NBA is back! After a marathon night of negotiations tallying over 15 hours ending late last night, the two sides reached a verbal tentative agreement to end the lockout and start the season by Christmas Day. For the season to officially begin, a handful of players must end their pending lawsuits against the NBA, go through some other litigation procedures, and reform a new player’s union. If all of this goes through, the players and owners must then ratify the agreement with a majority vote from both sides. Sources including sportswriters, Chris Broussard and David Aldridge have confirmed that the proposed 66 game schedule should not be in jeopardy and that the two sides will vote in favor of the new agreement. Stay tuned to Blended Entertainment for more news regarding this ongoing process.
