Russell Westbrook and Marshawn Lynch

Being that this is the blog where all forms of entertainment meet as one, I wanted to share my thoughts about two athletes and video game related news. First and foremost, you have one of professional basketball’s superstars from the Oklahoma City Thunder in Russell Westbrook. Although OKC missed out on making the NBA Playoffs this year mainly due to injuries, Russell Westbrook was big time. He is a superstar and for that he was rewarded as cover boy of NBA Live 16. The upcoming basketball game from EA Sports will try to dethrone the NBA 2k series and reclaim a crown that once belong to them. Despite missing fifteen games this past NBA season, Westbrook posted career high per game numbers in points, assists, rebounds, and steals. So while NBA 2k16 will have three different cover athletes in Steph Curry, James Harden, and Anthony Davis, NBA Live will have just one. I’m more of a fan of just having one cover athlete but four top notch athletes will be rewarded this year. I want to know if the necessary improvements are going to be made in NBA Live 16 to make it worthy for me to buy it. The graphics are looking better but I do need to see more of what this installment has to offer. Can Ea Sports create a great basketball game again?

In other news, Marshawn Lynch of the Seattle Seahawks has done some motion capture work and will be included in Call of Duty: Black Ops III. The game is due later this year and will feature him in a villainous role. I am interested in seeing how this will play out. This is something that has not been done before. To take an athlete and use them in this capacity is sure to peak the curiosity of “Beast Mode” fans who may only play as his likeness in the Madden video game franchise. This is not only interesting but congratulatory as well for Marshawn. He has taken so much flack for his interactions or lack thereof with the media, so to see him get this honor to be in one of the most successful video game series ever is truly a good distinction. Both video game franchises are trying to push the envelope. Only time will tell to see if either game is a must buy.

On June 20th, the flashy Adrien Broner who has been a champion in multiple weight classes will be going up against one of the top ranked welterweight contenders out there in Shawn Porter on NBC. The Premiere Boxing Champions will showcase the two Ohio natives will be fighting in Vegas to increase their odds of one day being the heir to the throne of boxing that is currently held by Floyd Mayweather Jr. In anticipation of the fight, I asked Shawn Porter what we should expect from him. Check out his response below. Will Adrien Broner have a response?

Mayweather vs Pacquiao Promo

The fight of the century is near. No matter how long it took this fight to get off the ground, it is finally coming. On May 2, Showtime and HBO will both broadcast the end all be all legacy fight between the undefeated Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. and the ferocious Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. The atmosphere in Vegas and around the world will be electric once the bell officially sounds. Mayweather and Pacquiao are the two best pound for pound pugilists of this era. Below is the first promo released for the upcoming mega fight. My fight predictions will come closer to fight time. Stay tuned. Who do you think will win?

WrestleMania 30 Predictions

wrestlemania-30

So here it is folks. My predictions to the show of all shows. WWE’s annual Super Bowl of sorts is tonight and I always like to share my thoughts on who I think will be winning in each match. I have been a wrestling fan for as long as I can remember. Here are my thoughts and predictions for each match:

WWE Tag Team Championship Fatal Four Way(The Usos vs Rybaxel vs The Matadores vs The Real Amercans)

My take here is that the champions(The Usos) will retain their tag titles to continue to boost what’s left of the division.

Vickie Guerrero’s Divas Invitational For The Divas Championship

I say AJ Lee retains her title but something happens after the match that will change the course of the Divas division.

Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal(30 Superstars start in the ring)

This one is tricky because it is a gimmick match featuring a lot of superstars who could have and should have been prominently featured at WrestleMania. I will go with a few picks here. Either Alexander Rusev, The Miz, or a surprise entrant will win this battle royal.

The Shield vs Kane & The New Age Outlaws

I mean come on here. My pick are the hounds of justice, right? Wrong. As a fan I am rooting for Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns, but the authority angle will continue in my opinion. Kane and The New Age Outlaws will win this match.

John Cena vs Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt here even though John Cena is the goldenboy.

Daniel Bryan vs Triple H(Winner enters main event)

Daniel Bryan is my pick but I think Triple H will enter himself in the main event as well to make it a fatal four-way.

The Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar

With the way Brock has been looking like a punk, you’d think he would win. The Undertaker is my pick here in a brutal match.

Randy Orton(Champion) vs Batista vs ?

Whether Daniel Bryan or Triple H is entered into the main event, I say Randy Orton retains the World Heavyweight Champioship.

There you have it. My predictions for WrestleMania 30 tonight. Be sure to catch it on ppv or on the WWE Network.

Floyd Mayweather Jr Fight Options

I don’t write too many opinion pieces but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis. New Years Day joke aside, I do want to wish everyone a Happy New Years. Whether you already celebrated, am currently celebrating, or recovering from your celebration by the time you read this, be safe. 2013 was a good year for boxing and 2014 could possibly be even better. Floyd Mayweather Jr is one of the more polarizing sports personalities. You either love him or you hate him. I happened to have been following his career for many years. I have posed a few options below and quite the idea for Mayweather’s next three fights. With the self proclaimed moniker “Money”, Floyd is the guy that everyone wants a piece of. I mean even Bernard Hopkins who fights at a weight of 175 lbs to that of 147 lbs for Mayweather. Here are my options for Floyd come 2014.

May 2014 (Amir Khan) – This one is currently being speculated  and Amir is the leading candidate for Mayweather thus far. Khan has tremendous speed in his hands and although this is a fight that has its fair share of doubters due to Khan’s popularity here in the states along with his recent fight history,  he does present a challenge to Mayweather  and Floyd would have to adjust to a fighter who may be just as fast if not faster at this stage of his career. Khan is a popular U.K boxer and typically Floyd would use Cinco de Mayo weekend to fight a boxer with roots in spanish speaking countries.

September 2014 (Marcos Maidana) – For the Saturday before Mexican Independence Day why not fight the man who recently defeated your protege Adrien Broner. Maidana is from Argentina, which is the largest spanish speaking nation in Latin America. This fight would now sell for multiple reasons. Marcos Maidana‘s fighting style, culture, recent beating of Broner, and confidence to do the same to Floyd  would sell this fight. Floyd seeking vengeance, or perhaps just proving that there is only one “Money” Mayweather is all he’ll need to bring to the fight. Mayweather knows how to sell. Originally I had a rematch with Miguel Cotto but he could possibly be in a fight in June which would more than likely prevent him from fighting just three months later.

January 31, 2015 (Manny Pacquaio) – Although this comes off as a typical list, this fight for January hypothetically would have major implications. January 31st is the Saturday right before the Super Bowl and marketing 101 tells you that a huge boxing match featuring a “still” undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr going up against his court of public opinion’s appointed rival would be associated with the Super Bowl somehow directly. Though it would be a blockbuster fight in January of all months, a PPV of this magnitude during Super Bowl weekend would be unprecedented and generate a ton of money. Another aspect to a potential fight could be that it takes place on CBS instead of Showtime PPV. With the Super Bowl taking place on NBC, what a way to not only market successfully in accordance with the Super Bowl, but while also creating a boxing Super Bowl that possesses the ability to buy commercial time. In 2015, the NFL Super Bowl will be taking place in the desert of Arizona, while this fight should take place within the desert of Nevada. There could be a few similarities between a potential fight on the Saturday before the Super Bowl, and the Super Bowl itself. I could also see a potential fight in January belonging to Amir Khan over in England as the NFL is establishing their brand a lot more within London.

Once again, the ideas above are all opinion and these are not guaranteed Floyd Mayweather Jr fights nor do I have any knowledge of  the boxers that he and his camp are thinking about.

Mayweather vs Canelo: Who Will Remain Undefeated?

Fight night is finally here. After months of anticipation and an exciting buildup courtesy of media press tours and Showtime’s All Access, tonight is where it all comes to a head at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Both Floyd Mayweather Jr and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez are undefeated but after tonight that will come to an end. Tomorrow morning many will either be talking about Alvarez shocking the world and the ultimate demise of Mayweather, or how a young hotshot pushed by Oscar De La Hoya failed to live up to the hype. Who will be the one?
