The Kardashian Effect

Keeping up with the Kardashians return with its’ sixth season tonight at 10 pm eastern. You can expect more drama and a new addition to the show. That is Kim’s fiance Kris Humphries. This family is a cash cow for the E network which is why there are and will continue to be many more spin-offs. For those who love the Kardashian family, be prepared for another season of laughter, tears, fights, and of course the most important aspect is love. The questions remains still, how do you feel about the Kardashian family and their continuing dominance of the E network with their of reality series?

Mayweather v Ortiz

His last fight was in May of last year. He only does things on his own terms and sometimes he takes too long of a break. I am talking about Floyd Mayweather, who announced his return to the boxing ring to his fans on Twitter earlier today. The fight will be against Victor Ortiz and is scheduled for September 17th. Victor was last seen in April where he defeated Andre Berto. Many are hoping that this fight preludes to a face off with Manny Pacquaio next year. Actually, Victor was one of the opponents that I felt Floyd needed to fight this year, despite the backlash against him for not fighting Pacquaio thus far. I for one am happy that Floyd is getting back in the ring. You can check out that post here

Interview w/ Hollie Wood

First can you introduce yourself to the people?

Sup world! I go by the name of Hollie Wood (also known as ‘H’) I’m a independent recording artist. My sound is Hip-Hop but it’s mixed with Rock, Alternative, Pop just to name a few, I try to create music that the listener can relate to as well as groove to, I’m unafraid to be different, I experiment with a lot of different flows and deliveries when I rap. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY to a single mother and I have 6 siblings.

How old were you when you realized that you wanted to pursue the art of music?

I’ve always had a great appreciation for music ever since I was little but it wasn’t until I was around 15-16 years old when I wrote my 1st rap, it was a song called “Young One” and I still remember every lyric lol I looked at it as a hobby mostly until I was around 22 where I REALLY realized this is actually what I was born to do, it just felt right whenever I would be in the studio creating or recording music, it’s an unexplainable feeling.

Tell us a bit about your style of music?

My style is very open if that makes any sense. I usually start with Hip-Hop because that’s my 1st love and foundation but I’ll ultimately end up with whatever feels right, sometimes it stays very HIP-HOP, other times it curves to rock or to pop or R&B, dance even. I just love music that sounds good regardless of genre, as I mentioned earlier I’m unafraid to be different and take chances.

Who were some of your influences growing up, or even now?

Well being from Brooklyn I grew up listening to the likes of lyrical geniuses Jay-Z and the Notorious B.I.G but I was also influenced by artist who brought something different and wasn’t afraid to challenge the industry, people like Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliott and I still listen to and are influenced by all of these artist and more to this day.

Tell us a little bit about your latest mixtape “The Chase”?

My latest mixtape “The Chase” is actually my 1st official mixtape release. I titled it “The Chase” because I am chasing my dream at full speed and another reason for the title is because I feel like I started late in realizing what that dream was… so in a sense I feel like I’m trying to catch up to what should have been done and that’s being a successful recording artist who can influence the world in a positive way with my music.

What motivates you to continue to work on projects?

My love and passion for what I do motivates me to continue to work on projects, there’s no greater feeling than that of PASSION and it’s a feeling I get whenever I know I’m about to go to the studio and work on my music.

Who is that one artist and or producer you would love to work with?

I would love to work with Jay-Z, the guy’s a genius and I love how he approaches music, I’m certain we would make a dope song together. I would also love to work with Timbaland, as a producer I feel he is one of the greatest.

Where do you hope to see yourself in a few years?

In a few years I hope to see myself with a #1 album and or single under my belt. I hope to have a solid fan base who supports my music 100%. I hope to see my name on the marquee at Madison Square Garden and I just hope to be a staple in the entertainment industry, a real influence in the world.

Thank you for your time. Is there anything you would like to say or express to anyone out there who may or may not know you yet?

No Thank You! And I would just like to say to anyone reading this just listen to my music it tends to speak for itself. I’m wrapping my 2nd mixtape “All Systems Go” which will be available for free download on my site http://thechasebegins.com it’s my best shxt yet! Other than that, just stay tuned.. follow me on twitter @hwoodofficial add me on facebook http://facebook.com/hfans and just keep your eyes and ears open for me.

Thanks Blended!

Shaquille O’Neal Retires

Army National Guard members Staff Sgt. Maygen ...

Earlier today, Shaquille O’Neal posted a video on his twitter account stating that he was retiring. He even created his own hashtag, #ShaqRetires which is currently the number two trending topic in the United States. Shaq is one of the most dominant players in NBA history and I must say that it was sad to see him go out the way he did this season. I wish him the best and hopefully more t.v time because his personality is one of a kind. His presence will be missed.

Mavs vs Heat 2011 Finals

Trophy and Garden

Maximized picture of the Larry O'Brien outside the stadium of the last team to come out of the Eastern Conference to win the NBA Finals.

In 2006, Dirk Nowitzski and Jason Terry were apart of a Dallas Mavericks team that went to the NBA Finals. There opponent was led by Dwayne Wade, Shaquille O’Neal, Jason Williams, and Udonis Haslem. The Mavs were up 2-0 in that series before suffering from a mental collapse the rest of the series which allowed the Miami Heat to win their first NBA Championship. Now we fast forward to today where each team has two holdovers from the 2006 Finals. For Dallas, it’s Nowitzki  and Terry, and for the Heat it’s Wade and Haslem. It is all about redemption for the Dallas teammates, and on the other side it’s about bringing home another Championship to South Beach. This time around Dirk has a point guard in future Hall of Famer Jason Kidd. He has more veterans such as Shawn Marion, Tyson Chandler, and a guy who is top 5 all-time in three point goals made in NBA history with Peja Stojakovic. Do not also count out the young J.J Barea who at times will probably outscore the entire Miami Heat bench. On the other hand, we have the Heat who have now added Lebron James and Chris Bosh. The new big three garnered so much hate throughout the summer of 2010 and much for the whole season. The expectations were very high and they could be on their way to fulfilling them. The Heat’s bench includes Mario Chalmers, Udonis Haslem, and Mike Miller. The Mavs are the more well-rounded team but a team with Lebron, Wade, and Bosh is expected to win it all as they have all put franchises on their back before coming together before this season started. Will Dirk finally get a ring to minimize his previous playoff failures and push his legacy, or will the trio in Miami reign supreme? Lebron’s decision made headlines last July. In just under five weeks, many analysts and fans will mark the one-year anniversary of “The Decision”. On that day, will fans that hated Lebron rejoice or will they have to come to terms that Lebron is now a winner, a winner of the most coveted prize in basketball?

Sean Kingston Injured

Sean Kingston (album)

Yesterday at about 6 p.m Eastern Time, recording artist Sean Kingston was said to have crashed his personal watercraft into the Palm Island Bridge in Miami. Both Kingston and an unnamed female passenger were both treated at a nearby trauma center. Both of their conditions are unknown at this point but we hope them a speedy recovery.  Sean Kingston rose to fame in 2007 and has since worked with many of today’s top artists, including Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, and Akon.
