Hey Awkward fans, you know him as Cole. I know him as Monty. View my interview below with the talented Monty Geer.

Awkward is now back for the fifth and for what is known as the final season. You’ve had time to be away from the series as filming concluded a while back. What are your thoughts now about the overall process and about the series ending?

I’m really sad that it’s ending. It has been an incredible journey. The cast and crew were the best people to work with. A lot of our fans have grown up and gone through high school at the same time as these characters. They’ve faced the same relationship drama in their lives and I’m sure had similar high school experiences. So it’s an emotional time for them, it’s like they are graduating with these characters and are having to say goodbye.

This series had been going strong before you joined in season 4. What was it like for you when you first joined the cast later in its’ run?

It was a little intimidating because everyone was already such a close family. I definitely felt like the new kid coming to school. However, at school you don’t have the constant fear that you will get fired if you’re not funny enough. Those would be some real high pressure tests! Luckily everyone was very friendly and welcoming and I wasn’t fired from school.

There have been some talk of this not being the end for Awkward. Have you heard any rumblings regarding a sixth season or spinoff? Would you be interested for any Awkward related television?

I love Awkward and think there is plenty of room to grow. We have a lot of fans who love the show and I’m sure they would always want some more of us. A Theo and Cole spinoff would be fun. I’m sure after high school they would be up to some crazy shenanigans. Like running some grungy bar hidden in the basement of a grocery store.

What do you like/dislike about your character, Cole?

I love the creative freedom I have with him. He’s so wild and crazy that in every scene I can literally do anything I want. There’s so much fun in entering a scene by jumping over furniture or grabbing unsuspecting background extras by the legs and pulling them across a field. As far as a dislike, I probably wouldn’t want to be his friend. He’s far too angry for me and I’m sure I am too basic for him.

How will the characters and the dynamic change from 5A to 5B?

Well it takes place a year later, so a lot is different. They are no longer in high school and are trying to live real lives. That can be very difficult. Dating people changes when you are no longer sitting in class with them everyday. It’s a little odd to pass notes to your cubicle partner. Plus, people mature and go off and make whole new friends. It’s a lot harder to keep your core group of people together.

What were your experiences like in high school?

I was always the class clown. I was in the honors program and was the smallest kid in my class. So in order to not get picked on, I had to be funny. I got kicked out of class way too much for “disturbing the peace”. I would play pranks on people like pouring water in their hoodie, so when they put it on they would get soaked. The last time I did that my friend got mad and poured water all over the essay I was writing. I didn’t get the best grade for turning in a soggy paper.

When you’re not acting, what are some other things that you personally like to do?

I’m an adrenaline junkie. I love doing things that scare me. I scuba dive, rock climb, play with tarantulas, fly planes, whatever. I love going through those feelings when I get scared and start thinking “I don’t know if I should do this”, because a lot of people stop at that moment. I always dive into what scares me and I usually never regret it. I’m training myself to not let fear hold me back because to really succeed in acting and life, you need to do what scares you. I’m not fearless, I’m just comfortable feeling uncomfortable.

What’s the most awkward thing or situation you ever been involved in?

I peed my pants one time in elementary school. We were at recess and were joking around a lot. Someone said something really funny and I laughed too hard, if you know what I mean. I was also wearing sweatpants at the time because I wasn’t the most fashionable 11 year old. So to hide what I did, I immediately pretended to fall into a puddle next to me. I went to the nurse to change, and I think I had to wear some baggy basketball shorts that were meant for someone 30 pounds heavier than I was.

Did you learn anything about yourself from your work in this series?

I learned to let things go. I used to hold on and try to do the “perfect take”, but we shoot so fast I may not of gotten exactly what I wanted. That would give me a lot of stress, but now I know I’ll be fine if I am just in the moment with Cole’s thoughts. There are lots of options instead of that one “perfect” one.

What can fans expect from season 5?

I definitely think it’s the best season. All of Matty and Jenna’s dating drama has been boiling up to this point, so fans will finally get to see how they end. Plus, Theo and Cole get into even more chaos and may have some drama of their own.

Do you have any other projects that you have worked on or are currently working on?

I just finished shooting an episode of Adam Ruins Everything on truTV, which was originally a College Humor web series. I also shot a film called The Adventures of Sam Wolf, where I play a blind character. It’s a fantasy/superhero story between two brothers. It was shot in the Northern California Redwoods, so the footage looks amazing!

Thank you for time Monty, is there anything you’d like to say to your fans and our readers?

I just hope you like this season of Awkward as much as I did. It’s my favorite season and a good amount of drama happens! I talk to my fans a lot  and if you want to reach out to me I’m @MontyGeer on Instagram and Twitter!

Degrassi 13C Finale Interview #4

Just when you thought it was over. I have one more Degrassi interview left for all of you. I couldn’t let you all celebrate this spring finale tonight without interviewing another individual who seems to be at a crossroads between two guys. Olivia Scriven is Maya Matlin, one of the handful of Sophomores who will play a huge role tonight’s episode.

maya

Jr: Wow where do I begin with Maya. She has been through so much and is only a sophomore. What have you seen in her that has changed from when we first met her back in season 11?

Olivia: Maya has not only gone through the necessary rites of passage that a 13 or 14 year old usually goes through, but she also dealt with issues (such as Cam’s death) that are really going to take a toll on the rest of her life. I think that since freshman year, she has looked at everything way more seriously, and values all her relationships with others. She is much stronger now and I think has way more self-esteem, but she thinks about everything too much, and over analyzes situations. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but I don’t think she will ever completely return to that innocent little girl we saw at the beginning.

Jr: Who do you ship Maya with?

Olivia: I don’t know if this is allowed… but I ship Maya with Maya! I think that since the beginning of high school, her decisions have been largely impacted on by the boys surrounding her life, and those decisions haven’t always turned out so well. I think right now, Maya should focus on her individuality before jumping into another relationship.

Jr: What is a story-line you want to see Maya go through?

Olivia: I’d love to see Maya and Grace try to run away or something, and end up like, living in a tent somewhere. That’d be really awesome and weird. It would be a really fun acting duet too, with only two people in a really secluded area.

Sparks Will Fly pt 2 (Premiers Tonight, at 9:00pm ET)

Fireworks begin at Wild Wild West Night when Clare makes her decision known with regards to Drew and Eli. Zoë struggles to stand up for herself. Miles and Zig face off in a showdown for Maya’s heart.

New episodes of Degrassi continue this summer with the remainder of season13.

Degrassi 13C Finale Interview #3

Yesterday was all about Aislinn Paul and Ana Goljia. All good things must come to an end. Today marks the end of my Degrassi interviews just in time for the spring finale tonight. I bring to you an interview from another new entrant to Degrassi this season. His character is currently feuding with Zig Novak over Maya Matlin’s heart. Will he win? This is the question that only Eric Osborne knows the answer to.

milesh

Jr: What are the similarities and differences between you and your character Miles?

Eric: For the most part, Miles and I are dissimilar. We are very different in the way we act and the way we view the world. However, sometimes I can relate to the way he is feeling and even share similar thoughts. For the most part, Miles is only a part of me I bring out for performance.

Jr: How do you think Miles stays afloat when it comes to the situation regarding his father’s affair, and his recent relationship struggle?

Eric: On the subject of the affair that Miles’ father is having with Andrea, Miles is very conflicted. He is very hurt and disappointed to find out what his father is capable of and he definitely shows it. But he knows he needs to be strong for his siblings and to prove to himself that he is strong enough to persevere. Miles is trying to be mature in order to protect his family and prove to himself that he can be mature.

Jr: There is this love triangle or battle of sorts that involves Miles, Maya, and Zig. Can Miles and Zig co-exist in Maya’s world at the same time?

Eric: I believe that for Maya, she would love to believe in the possibility of having both Miles and Zig. She feels responsible for both of them and cares for both of them. However, Miles and Zig would never be satisfied with “sharing” Maya, and in their minds, whoever ends up with her is the victor. For Miles, it is just as much about getting Maya as it is about defeating Zig. Therefore, it is impossible for Zig and Miles to co-exist and share Maya.

Degrassi 13C Finale Interview

Degrassi is deep into season 13. The spring finale is near and there is no better way to ring in the finale for block C of this season than to post a couple of brief interviews with a few of the cast members. To begin this Marathon Monday, we’ll start off with Aislinn Paul. She currently stars as Clare Edwards, the senior at Degrassi who I hope truly realizes she needs something better than what she has now with Eli. She left Eli that voice-mail and I hope she sticks by it.

clareedwards

Jr: We have seen Clare as far back as season 6. As a student, you are basically the bridge with the deepest roots (season 6, unlike season 8 for Alli and Connor) between the former Degrassi TNG cast, and the current crop. How does it feel having that nobility within the Degrassi community?

Aislinn: To call it anything but an honor would be wrong. When I first came on the show I had no idea what a huge impact it would have on my life. It’s become a home for me, as well as a connection point to so many young Canadian actors. I couldn’t have imagined a greater gift.

Jr: Clare has gone through such a drastic change over the seasons. If today’s Clare could go back in time to visit the freshman version of herself, what advice would she now give to the younger version of herself?

Aislinn: Where to start… I think, above all, I would tell her to more readily accept imperfection. Clare still has trouble with this now, but I think she would have been happier had she been okay with making mistakes.

Jr: Without giving anything away, do you personally feel that Clare should still be in a relationship or should she just be single and mingle with a great support system?

Aislinn: I think that long distance can strain any relationship, no matter how strong. And as much as Eli and Clare feel like they are meant to be, maybe they aren’t at this point in time…. We’ll just have to see where the chips fall.

Sparks Will Fly pt 2 (Premiering Tuesday, April 22, at 9:00pm ET)

Fireworks begin at Wild Wild West Night when Clare makes her decision known with regards to Drew and Eli. Zoë struggles to stand up for herself. Miles and Zig face off in a showdown for Maya’s heart.

Bieber’s B-Day & Snooki’s Pregnant?

Hey there everyone I’m back with my take on a couple of things that happened in the past week or so. First, Justin Bieber has turned 18. He is officially legal for those of you out there who have been waiting with excitement. Justin celebrated his 18th birthday last week which in many of his fans eyes is a very big deal. Justin celebrated with a party over the weekend in which his lady, Selena flew from Florida to Los Angeles to surprise him. Bieber was a guest on the Ellen show on his birthday and was surprised with a car (and not just any car) by Scooter Braun. I am sure Justin has received so much more for his birthday than just this car and the extravagant party.

In other news from around the entertainment world, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is apparently pregnant despite denying prior rumors about a month ago. We’ll see how this is factored into her spinoff series with Jenni “JWoww” Farley because it must somehow be a major storyline at some point. I do extend my congratulations to Snooki though. Parenthood is a beautiful thing. I also extend some congratulations to Nick Lachey and his wife Vanessa as the latter just announced her pregnancy this week. Nick Lachey has recently been a guest co-host on Live with Kelly.
