Degrassi 13C Finale Interview #4

Just when you thought it was over. I have one more Degrassi interview left for all of you. I couldn’t let you all celebrate this spring finale tonight without interviewing another individual who seems to be at a crossroads between two guys. Olivia Scriven is Maya Matlin, one of the handful of Sophomores who will play a huge role tonight’s episode.

Jr: Wow where do I begin with Maya. She has been through so much and is only a sophomore. What have you seen in her that has changed from when we first met her back in season 11?

Olivia: Maya has not only gone through the necessary rites of passage that a 13 or 14 year old usually goes through, but she also dealt with issues (such as Cam’s death) that are really going to take a toll on the rest of her life. I think that since freshman year, she has looked at everything way more seriously, and values all her relationships with others. She is much stronger now and I think has way more self-esteem, but she thinks about everything too much, and over analyzes situations. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but I don’t think she will ever completely return to that innocent little girl we saw at the beginning.

Jr: Who do you ship Maya with?

Olivia: I don’t know if this is allowed… but I ship Maya with Maya! I think that since the beginning of high school, her decisions have been largely impacted on by the boys surrounding her life, and those decisions haven’t always turned out so well. I think right now, Maya should focus on her individuality before jumping into another relationship.

Jr: What is a story-line you want to see Maya go through?

Olivia: I’d love to see Maya and Grace try to run away or something, and end up like, living in a tent somewhere. That’d be really awesome and weird. It would be a really fun acting duet too, with only two people in a really secluded area.

Sparks Will Fly pt 2 (Premiers Tonight, at 9:00pm ET)

Fireworks begin at Wild Wild West Night when Clare makes her decision known with regards to Drew and Eli. Zoë struggles to stand up for herself. Miles and Zig face off in a showdown for Maya’s heart.

New episodes of Degrassi continue this summer with the remainder of season13.

Degrassi 13C Finale Interview #3

Yesterday was all about Aislinn Paul and Ana Goljia. All good things must come to an end. Today marks the end of my Degrassi interviews just in time for the spring finale tonight. I bring to you an interview from another new entrant to Degrassi this season. His character is currently feuding with Zig Novak over Maya Matlin’s heart. Will he win? This is the question that only Eric Osborne knows the answer to.

Jr: What are the similarities and differences between you and your character Miles?

Eric: For the most part, Miles and I are dissimilar. We are very different in the way we act and the way we view the world. However, sometimes I can relate to the way he is feeling and even share similar thoughts. For the most part, Miles is only a part of me I bring out for performance.

Jr: How do you think Miles stays afloat when it comes to the situation regarding his father’s affair, and his recent relationship struggle?

Eric: On the subject of the affair that Miles’ father is having with Andrea, Miles is very conflicted. He is very hurt and disappointed to find out what his father is capable of and he definitely shows it. But he knows he needs to be strong for his siblings and to prove to himself that he is strong enough to persevere. Miles is trying to be mature in order to protect his family and prove to himself that he can be mature.

Jr: There is this love triangle or battle of sorts that involves Miles, Maya, and Zig. Can Miles and Zig co-exist in Maya’s world at the same time?

Eric: I believe that for Maya, she would love to believe in the possibility of having both Miles and Zig. She feels responsible for both of them and cares for both of them. However, Miles and Zig would never be satisfied with “sharing” Maya, and in their minds, whoever ends up with her is the victor. For Miles, it is just as much about getting Maya as it is about defeating Zig. Therefore, it is impossible for Zig and Miles to co-exist and share Maya.

Degrassi 13C Finale Interview

Degrassi is deep into season 13. The spring finale is near and there is no better way to ring in the finale for block C of this season than to post a couple of brief interviews with a few of the cast members. To begin this Marathon Monday, we’ll start off with Aislinn Paul. She currently stars as Clare Edwards, the senior at Degrassi who I hope truly realizes she needs something better than what she has now with Eli. She left Eli that voice-mail and I hope she sticks by it.

Jr: We have seen Clare as far back as season 6. As a student, you are basically the bridge with the deepest roots (season 6, unlike season 8 for Alli and Connor) between the former Degrassi TNG cast, and the current crop. How does it feel having that nobility within the Degrassi community?

Aislinn: To call it anything but an honor would be wrong. When I first came on the show I had no idea what a huge impact it would have on my life. It’s become a home for me, as well as a connection point to so many young Canadian actors. I couldn’t have imagined a greater gift.

Jr: Clare has gone through such a drastic change over the seasons. If today’s Clare could go back in time to visit the freshman version of herself, what advice would she now give to the younger version of herself?

Aislinn: Where to start… I think, above all, I would tell her to more readily accept imperfection. Clare still has trouble with this now, but I think she would have been happier had she been okay with making mistakes.

Jr: Without giving anything away, do you personally feel that Clare should still be in a relationship or should she just be single and mingle with a great support system?

Aislinn: I think that long distance can strain any relationship, no matter how strong. And as much as Eli and Clare feel like they are meant to be, maybe they aren’t at this point in time…. We’ll just have to see where the chips fall.
