Bradley Shocks The World

Last night not only saw the Boston Celtics unable to maintain a lead in the second half of game 7 against the Heat, but something else happened that has already had boxing and sports fans talking. I’m at a lost for words as I sit here writing about it. Timothy Bradley defeated Manny Pacquaio last night in what was a shocking upset who many still can not even fathom how. Though Manny did not really hurt Bradley, he was the much busier fighter and landed more power shots and punches in general. Though there was a slim chance that we would have saw Mayweather lace up the gloves against Pacquaio at some point in the future, you can bet your bottom dollar that the fight of the century will never ever happen for sure. Bradley won in a split decision and I’m perplexed understanding how he even won more than three rounds on a judge’s scorecard. I predicted Bradley to win since it made sense for the future of boxing but I was expecting a closer fight in my eyes. This prediction made it seem like boxing would share something with professional wrestling and that’s the idea of putting a guy over so he too can become a prize fighter, a big star. Why have one star in the sport when you can create another. Some say that this was Bob Arum’s doing, some say Pacquaio was punished for delaying the fight. This may have put a grey cloud over the sport,  but it may create more business while Floyd Mayweather Jr remains inactive due to his current incarceration. It looks like a rematch between Bradley and Pac Man was already set in stone for November 10th before the fight even began. Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley did not begin the fight until after the Eastern Conference Finals was over for what was seen as a good PR move. Manny, who was cheering the Celtics in his locker room ultimately suffered the same fate via the judges.

Miley and Liam Engaged

It seems like just a week or two ago we were watching Miley as Hannah Montana or maybe that was an episode of Punk’d? Either way, it has been confirmed that the former Disney starlet and Hunger Games’ beau are engaged and have been for about a week. The on again off again couple for three years became engaged on May 31. Miley fans were overwhelmed with joy and excitement of  an engagement when Miley tweeted a picture of a ring on her finger back in March. Miley shot down all rumors that she was engaged at that time. Miley and Liam are both young and are continuing to expand their careers. I send my congratulations to the both of them courtesy of Blended Entertainment.

Artist Spotlight: Richie Wess

Welcome again for another artist spotlight. This time let me introduce you to Richie Wess.

Born in QUEENS, NY Richie Wess moved to TAMPA, FL where he would begin starting his young career with his cousin DJ Spinatik. Wess was influenced by Run DMC, at an early age. His father produced many music videos for Russell Simmons Def Jam in the early eighties and Wess took a liking to the music and the business.

At 4 years-old he played in an urban movie as the lead’s son in “The Last Boxer”. At 6, he was performing for his family and friends, and by 10 years-old Richie Wess started to write down his ideas and started rapping to friends and family members, then later entered into rap battles in the streets and school.

The word was out that he was up next. From March – May 2003 he was performing as the Opening Act with the “Def Jam Vendetta Tour 2003” with Joe Budden, Method Man, Capone & Nore in Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville. He also was the opening act for Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz and later that year dropped his 1st album at only 15.

Now he’s the CEO of YTC Entertainment Group along with Yung Dred, his younger brother. YTC Entertainment has been independent for the last 3 years releasing such singles as “Shawty Is A Freak” Ft. Sammie & Yung Dred which peaked at #65 on Billboards Urban Top 100 in 2011.

You probably heard Richie Wess in the streets, on one of his many collaborations with Lil Boosie, Gucci Mane, 2 Pistols, Brisco, Smitty and The Game. Richie Wess is heavy in the mixtape circuit  and has dropped 8 mixtapes with DJ Spinatik. He is now ready to take over the airwaves once again with his **New Single** “Put it Down” Ft. Def Jam Recording Artist Verse Simmonds! Put It Down will also be featured on Richie Wess’ upcoming project “Joints Ova Blunts” slated to drop 6.6.2012.

Is Will Smith Back on Top

Will Smith is back on top after an absence of nearly four years but for how long? The third installment of Men In Black released this past weekend and ascended to number one on the box office charts with a total of 69.25 million. Was it enough to beat out The Avengers? Yes it was. Was it enough for Will to reclaim the title as “Mr. Blockbuster”, only time will tell. Will has the ability to produce sequels for past blockbuster franchises such as Bad Boys, I Am Legend, I Robot, and Hancock but for now that it is a waiting game with a lot of speculation. Will Smith is one of my favorite actors and he can sure deliver but can this installment of Men In Black out perform the not so good Men In Black 2? The first film is a classic and helped continue to push Will to the moon. With the production budgets being so high for his films, these movies really need to bring in a ton of money. No matter how much Men In Black 3 makes internationally, it is important to bring in high profits domestically as well. Lets just hope that we’ll see much more of Will Smith in the near future. He is one of the rare attractions as an African American in Hollywood, especially when it comes to the representation of global superstars.

Junior Dos Santos UFC 146

Junior Dos Santos put the icing on the cake in what was billed as the” first heavyweight only UFC PPV in history”. Dos Santos defended his title successfully by putting an end to Frank Mir in the second round. The one thing that UFC has over boxing is that the heavyweight division division is much more exciting and much deeper. Dos Santos’ next opponent could be another clash with Cain Velasquez, but there are quite a few other prospects including Daniel Cormier. What was interesting was the fact that former heavyweight champ, yet currently retired Brock Lesnar attended the show and he appeared to have something to discuss with Dana White. Now while Brock is currently involved in angle with the WWE, he may possibly be looking for a squash match within the octagon in the future if that is even possible for him after what he has endured.
