2011 NBA Champions

Congratulations to Dirk Nowitzski, Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, and the rest of the Dallas Mavericks for winning the franchise’s first NBA title. Mavs won in six games with a final score of 105-95. Dirk was named as the Finals MVP. Nowitzski struggled but he did it some important shots. He finished with 21 points. The rest of the team carried him through this struggle but as a team, the Mavs dethroned King James, Dwayne Wade, and the Miami Heat. Jason Terry played great basketball and he went to work while Lebron was in the game. Dirk and Kidd are future Hall of Famers and they were deserving of a championship at this stage of their careers. It was a very good series and credit the Miami Heat for hanging in there but obviously the big three weren’t ready. Lebron James was quoted as saying “At the end of the day, all the people that were rooting on me to fail, at the end of the day, they have to wake up tomorrow and have the same life that they had before they woke up today,” he went on to talk about how people will be happy about this failure for days or months but pointed out that they will be back to their personal problems while he and his family will be happy.

NBA Playoffs 2011 Predictions

I’ll start off my 2011 campaign with my predictions for the NBA Playoffs. By the time this article is published, there will already be two days of basketball played. With that being said, I am predicting every round separately, including the Finals. So without further ado here are my predictions starting with the Eastern Conference.

1. Chicago Bulls

vs

8. Indiana Pacers

My Winner- Chicago

Expect MVP candidate Derrick Rose to shine in this series. I honestly believe that Indiana can match up and win two games but the Bulls will take this in six.

4. Orlando Magics

vs

5. Atlanta Hawks

My Winner- Atlanta

I just can not take the Orlando Magics seriously. I can not take Dwight Howard seriously. He is the best center in the league and I want him to take control and be aggressive. It seems he has done that and received many techs this season but something is missing. Develop a jump shot Dwight. The Hawks have the individual pieces to lead through Orlando in five games.

3. Boston Celtics

vs

6. New York Knicks

My Winner- Boston

Home-town pick here. They lost a lot of luster since trading Perkins but I expect them to take care of the Knicks in five games.

2. Miami Heat

vs

7. Philadelphia 76ers

My Winner- Miami

I would love if the Doug Collin’s 76ers push Miami to seven games but all I see is a sweep. Miami will wear Philly down throughout the first couple of games.
