The Voice vs American Idol(Guest Post)

The Voice or American Idol?

It’s no secret that American Idol has been going strong for quite a while now. With the show now in its 10th season it has already made many singers famous. No show has ever come close to American Idol. At least not until the The Voice came along. Mark Burnett’s new show on NBC is giving Idol some stiff competition. In a way, it’s much too early to hand out the final verdict. After all, The Voice had finished only 1 season. Idol is 9 seasons ahead of it. Still the public is already asking, is The Voice better that Idol? Let’s look at some factors.

Chance to succeed.

When it comes to giving out chances, Idol is the clear winner in this category. After all it goes all over America giving anyone who would like to try the chance to audition. And when I say anyone, I mean anyone. I’ve heard the worst singers in history in Idol auditions. On the upside that’s part of the shows charm. You can really have a good laugh listening to people who are tone deaf trying to sing. On the other hand, The Voice, has already preselected the “best” singers in the world to be one of the 16 contestants for the show. Yes, most of them are good. But the question is, are they really the best? Where did they get these singers?

Concept.

The basic concept of Idol is to select the best singer in America based on the audition results, the judge’s comments and the people’s votes. The focus is more on the entire package: voice, appearance and stage presence. In comparison, The Voice focuses more on the vocals of each contestant – at least during the preliminary stage. During the first part, the judges all have their backs to the stage. If they like what they hear they press the red button and their chair turns. This will give them the chance to take that particular singer in as part of their team. The Voice has added a unique twist to the whole selection process. In terms of concept, The Voice takes this round.

Judges.

Idol has a power house cast of judges: Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez. But then The Voice also has Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo and Blake Shelton – huge stars in their own right. In this round, it’s a tie for me.

Audience Connection.

One thing that Idol has done right is that it reveals a bit about each contestant. This gives the viewers something to care about. It connects them to each contestant on a more emotional level. The Voice, on the other, rushes right on to the competition.

All in all, it’s too early to tell whether The Voice is better than Idol. But so far, NBC’s new show seems to be on the progress of catching up to Idol.

Kourtney Kardashian Expecting Again?

Someone from the Kardashian family is expecting a child, and it’s not Kim. That’s right guys, Kourtney Kardashian is back at it again. Kourtney made the announcement to UsWeekly and E! News. Kourtney is nine weeks into her pregnancy, and she along with Scott will be welcoming a new boy/girl next year. Kourtney and Scott’s son Mason is just two years old and in the near future he will become a big brother. The Kardashians have not been shy of the spotlight as of late. Recently, Kris Humphries filed an annulment of the lack of marriage he had with Kim. Also we had Rob Kardashian make it to the finals of Dancing With The Stars but he ultimately lost. There are now rumors of Kris Jenner being featured on the dancing show next season. This family brings a ton of media buzz no matter where they are or what they’re doing. Who knows how long this media craze can continue, but I’d like to congratulate Kourtney and Scott on their exciting news.

Interview w/ Stefanie Scott

She’s a talented young actress on the hit Disney series A.N.T Farm, and she took the time to let Blended Entertainment into her busy life.

You started acting at a very young age, what do you remember about your first role?

My VERY first role was playing Tessie in a local production of Annie. I just remember how much fun it was to perform in front of a live audience and all of us because very close as a cast.

How did you know that you wanted to be an entertainer?

It just felt “right”

You play a character on a very popular t.v series, what was the audition process like?

We were seen in a first audition reading the part and they call you back if they like what they see. It continues from there until near the end they do a mix and match with the other characters on the show to make sure the characters have ‘chemistry” and then you wait hoping they pick you!

What do you like about playing Lexi?

Lexi is a more complicated character than most people think.  I think she has a good heart underneath it all but just sometimes has a hard time showing that underneath her competitive nature.

What’s a typical day like on the set of A.N.T. Farm?

We arrive on set at 7:30am for school before we start rehearsal.  We rehearse Mon, Tues, Wed and then start filming on Thursday and then we have a live audience on Friday for the rest of the scenes so it is a full week with school every morning before we start work.

You recently released a single title, The Girl I Used To Know, will we see more music from you in the future?

I HOPE SO!  I love music and songwriting – so Yes!

You are starring in Frenemies,a Disney Channel Original Movie. What is the movie about and how was it on set filming?

It is three story lines about friends and enemies and how sometimes they can be the same.  We filmed in Canada and it was awesome!  I had a great time with Bella, Zendaya, Mary and Nick and of course the dog!

Fan Questions

1.@twinluv asks what’s your favorite song?

Hmmmm that is a hard one because I have like over 1000 songs on my playlist and it changes!

2.@Sparklysel asks what do you love most about your fans?

I Love my fans because they are truly very supportive and I try to be supportive back to them.  They can bring me up when I am feeling down and I try to be inspirational to them to follow their dreams no matter where they may come from.

3.@22jolz22 asks who is the funniest when they are backstage/off set?

Jake definitely!  He is very funny!

NBA Players and Owners Reach Agreement

We have some good news here to report at Blended Entertainment. As of right now, the NBA is back! After a marathon night of negotiations tallying over 15 hours ending late last night, the two sides reached a verbal tentative agreement to end the lockout and start the season by Christmas Day. For the season to officially begin, a handful of players must end their pending lawsuits against the NBA, go through some other litigation procedures, and reform a new player’s union. If all of this goes through, the players and owners must then ratify the agreement with a majority vote from both sides. Sources including sportswriters, Chris Broussard and David Aldridge have confirmed that the proposed 66 game schedule should not be in jeopardy and that the two sides will vote in favor of the new agreement. Stay tuned to Blended Entertainment for more news regarding this ongoing process.
