Kevin From Work is a new series on ABC Family. I had the opportunity to interview one of the stars from the series. Enjoy my interview with Jason Rogel.

Right now, you can be seen in the ABC Family series, Kevin from Work. What can you tell us about your character?

I play Kevin and Audrey’s co-worker, Ricky. He is the office gossip and has his nose in everybody’s business. Ricky also has this weird love-hate relationship with both Kevin and Audrey which makes him a bit unpredictable, but definitely a fun, interesting character.

What was it like going through the process for season 1 and is there any indication thus far that a season 2 could be in the works?

We just wrapped our 10th episode, and it has been an amazing journey. I think with any new show it is always neat to see how the characters and storylines develop from the pilot. The last episode of the season definitely ends with an Kevin & Audrey cliffhanger, that will hopefully get resolved or at least addressed in the 2nd season.

I know you were in “State of Georgia”, starring Raven Symone and Loretta Devine. What was it like working with Raven?

I had the best time working on “State of Georgia.”  Raven and the rest of the cast were so much fun to work with–so warm and welcoming. Both Raven and Loretta have been in this industry forever. Between the professionalism and work ethic they brought to set, and the genius comedic timing they brought to the show–it was an amazing learning experience just to watch the both of them work.

You have been on set for a lot of different tv series. Is there a particular series you worked on that you wish you would have had a larger role on?

Probably “Dexter,” mostly because it was such an awesome show–and that season in particular was a really good one with John Lithgow as the Trinity Killer. It would have been great to have played a bigger part in that season’s story line–maybe even get to be one of Dexter’s or the Trinity Killer’s victims. That would would have been cool.

What has it been like on and off the set with the cast and crew?

The cast just hit it off from day one. We hang out off-camera as much as we do on-camera.  And that goes for our production team as well. Seriously, from top to bottom, this has been one of the most amazing groups of people I have ever gotten to work with on any project. We really are a family.

Can you talk a bit about how you got your start in acting?

I started out performing in high school musicals. One of my drama teachers encouraged me to continue studying Acting in college, and I ended up with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theater.  It was in college that I really developed my love of performing and realized that this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I got an agent, started out doing commercials, and eventually worked my way into TV and film. There is also a whole bunch of struggling and rejection, and questioning yourself and working day jobs, and night jobs and making rent, and top ramen and tears that figure into my journey. But we can save that for the Lifetime biopic. [laughter]

What do you see for yourself in the future regarding your projects and career?

I would love to land a role on a TV show that runs for a like 5 or 6 seasons, and get to work on film projects in between.  That would be amazing. Who knows–hopefully “Kevin from Work” is that TV show. How great would that be?
