Bret Green stars as Preston Wainright in the CBS Saturday morning series, The Inspectors. The drama that focuses on a college student who is eager to join his mom at the USPIS  (United States Postal Inspection Service). It’s an exciting series that involves Preston’s antics with his best friend Noah, while also solving crimes. Check out my interview below with Bret Green.

Bret can you talk a bit about how you got your start into acting?  

I started making funny YouTube videos with my friend during college and then one day we decided we were going to move to LA and become actors. Shortly after, I signed with a talent agency. I booked a role on How to Get Away With Murder and that kind of kick-started everything for me.

What can you tell us about your character Preston Wainwright?

Preston is a teenage whiz kid who recently lost the use of his legs in a car accident that took his father’s life. He wants nothing more than to walk again and become a Postal Inspector, just like his mom and late father. When he is not interning at the USPIS crime lab, Preston helps guide his friends through their freshman year of college.

What was the audition process like for The Inspectors?

I first auditioned in early December and did not find out I got the role until late February, so it was a little bit of a wait to receive the good news [smiles].

How many episodes will the first season of The Inspectors have?

Our first season received a full order of 22 episodes.

Saturday morning television reminds me of the good days growing up. What did you use to do on Saturday mornings?

I used to watch Saved By the Bell on Saturday mornings then switch over to ESPN for college football afterwards.

You’re portraying a character who is physically challenged. This isn’t something we see much of on television, especially within this genre. Was there any preparation for playing this character?

I prepped for a full month leading up to filming. The production team rented me a wheelchair so I could get used to how to operate it and make it look as authentic as possible. I had some great on set consultants who always made sure I was moving in the chair properly and everything looked as real as it can.

Why should people watch The Inspectors?

Our show has a very diverse group of characters who are all going through their own hardships and struggles, which we can all relate to. The show is upbeat and positive, which is great for everyone, and the crimes on the show are based on real life events so you can learn a thing or two about what types of scams exist these days and how to avoid them.

What have you enjoyed about working on The Inspectors?

I have enjoyed getting the experience and working with such a great cast and crew. This was my first lead role so I had plenty to learn from a number of great veteran actors and crew members.

If you weren’t acting, what would be your dream job?

I always wanted to be an anchor on Sportscenter, so I would probably be doing that.

What are three of your favorite places to visit?

San Diego, Cabo San Lucas, and going home for the holidays in Michigan.

Can you talk a bit about the charities that you really take pride in?

Working on this show has really opened my eyes and made me aware of the physically challenged community, which has helped develop a relationship with Christopher & Dana  Reeve Foundation. What they are doing to help put an end to paralysis is groundbreaking and inspiring.
